Need some advice....

YEA!! Andrew did it again! Last night he peed in his potty after a whole day of me trying to get him to go! - and another accident on the wood floor(easy to clean at least.) I was so excited. I would love to hear some advice from anyone who wants to give it. How did you potty train your kiddo?

With Emma I started with putting her on the toilet every couple of hours and when she sat she got a sticker. That way she could get down what it felt like to go potty. Then we moved on to candy. Every time that she went in the toilet she got a piece of candy that she picked out. Now we are working on earning a big thing "Thomas the train DVD" she has to go two days without any accidents! It you start small and work big it really helps! And make sure that you find something that really motivates him. Good luck and hope that helped!

Hmm. Well we tried and tried and tried - potty treats, sticker charts, etc. Kirk would do well for about a week and then stop. So, eventually I gave up and let him do it on his timetable. Quit worrying - just let him go when he wanted and wear pull-ups the rest of the time. And lo and behold, the week we were moving (just before he turned 3) he decided he was done. Put on big boy underwear and never looked back. Truly - no accidents. He still wets the bed some nights but he's perfect all day. Good luck with this fun stuff! :)

I just simply beat Gracie into submission. Kidding. She did really good with wanting to poop in the potty but it was the pee part that took the longest. They just have to learn what if feels like to have to go and how they need to hold it. Putting her on every hour is how I did it but if he doesn't want to sit on it don't make him. He'll just learn to hate what the potty is if he is mad each time he sits on it. Gracie loved being told how big she was and how good she did. Keep that up! There is going to be lots of accidents so don't get frustrated.

I have heard that giving them some type of reward each time they use the potty can be a good motivator!

we just potty trained Kallon and here is what I we did. My method is probably really gross but it worked and that's what really matters. I put his potty on a towel in the front room so he could watch t.v. He would sit on it most of the day and drink capri sun. He loved it and after about two days he finally caught on. He also was naked for about three days. He does pretty well now. He still has accidents but for the most part he is doing well. We also gave him a treat after every time he went in the potty or a sticker. We let him pick the treats hoping that would make him more excited to receive them. He is better everyday. I hope this helps and good luck!:)

My piece of advice is once you start don't go back. I am sure you remember reading a while back about my horrible day --well we had been potting training for a good month. It is not a fast and easy deal. So just go for it and know there will be accidents. He will get the hang of it sooner or later.

With Mikelle we left the potty chair outside. She never wanted to come in so that was helpful. She still loves to pee outside (got that from me) and can even pee standing up (crazy, huh?) Then when Kass came along we had to repotty train her or did she train us... I'm not sure. She had an accident and played with it in her little kitchen. My mom was watching her and had a come apart and threatened to take away the kitchen. NO more accidents after that. Apparently my mom scared her enough.
With Kass I just asked her if she wanted pretty panties. She had a couple accidents and was trained.

Just be patient. If he is really interested he'll do it soon enough. Just keep praising him when he goes or get him a little treat.
